Drip, drip, drip…. Is there anything more annoying than constantly hearing your shower dripping? To make things worse the drip is likely inflating your water bill or could be hiding something more sinister.
Here we look into why your shower head could be leaking and ways you can fix the problem.
Firstly, you need to establish whether the dripping is constant or if it stops over time. The easiest way to do this is to remove the head and hose from the shower or in the case of fixed shower heads, remove the head from the arm.
If the drip stops the issue is likely due to water retention in your shower head and can easily be resolved.
How To Fix A Shower Head That Drips
-
Check for kinks or twists in the shower hose. A kinked hose can be unravelled by removing it from the outlet and letting it naturally untwist.
-
Check for lime scale blockages in the spray plate of the shower head. Limescale can be cleaned by soaking the head in warm water and white vinegar (2:1 ratio) for approx. 20 minutes.
-
Our shower heads also feature rub clean jets - gently rotating the jets with your fingers can help break up any scale inside the jets. Use an old toothbrush on more stubborn limescale.
-
Check the rubber washers or O-Rings in your shower head for damage - these effectively act as seals in your adjustable shower head and prevent water from leaking out. Over time they can wear down and may need replacing. Replacements can be purchased from our online shower spares store.
If the drip continues once the head has been disconnected, it may be a larger issue and suggests there could be a fault with your shower or shower valve. Please call our customer service team on 01959 560010 and select the appropriate option whether in or out of warranty.
